Class schedule

Tomorrow

  • 5:00 AM - 5:55 AM
  • Circuit training
Burn 30-40% more calories than traditional cardio!

A circuit is a series of strength or cardio exercises (or both) repeated two or three times with little or no rest between sets. A circuit that combines cardio and strength moves will blast fat and sculpt muscle. It can also burn up to 10 calories a minute. Circuit training is a great boredom buster: Moving quickly from one exercise to the next means your mind doesn't have time to wander or tune out.

At Vo2max, circuit training is our specialty and our trainers design unique and challenging circuits that will never fail to leave you sweating and wanting more! No one leaves Vo2max dry, we guarantee it!

When I was a kid, I was always playing whether it be hiking, climbing, running, sports or otherwise. As I grew older I played all kinds of sports from Frisbee to wrestling. I found that though my various hobbies and education majors changed my passion for health and fitness did not. I undertook several certifications and studied exercise science with a drive that I rarely put into other areas of interest. I found yoga when I was just 14, and having been practicing since then. I discovered that health and wellness had a spiritual bliss connected to it. So I infused my knowledge and experience of strength training with my calm focus of yoga. Now look to spread my joy of exercise with my clients. Vo2 max first intrigued me with boxing because I had some background with other forms of martial arts like Karate and Krav Maga. I took to it quickly and loved the training so much that I ended up asking for a job training and teaching yoga. Vo2 max has the tools and trainers to accomplish anything you put your mind too.

  • HIIT Boxing
Burn over 1000 calories as you challenge your body and mind to the ultimate high intensity workout of your life! Go 12 rounds with Vo2 as we take you from the ring to the heavy bags and back. Think P90X meets Insanity meets Mike Tyson. Each round pits you against the clock to complete as many sets or combinations as possible.

This class is for anyone with an active interest in well-being, which improves mental and physical strength and flexibility; to maintain optimal health, prevent injury and maximize performance. A test for the entire body, HIIT Boxing demands the will and determination of a fighter to effectively overcome mental and physical barriers and reach new levels of performance.

HIIT Boxing is also a great way for beginner boxers to practice poses that gradually reinforce a basic understanding of boxing technique, from stance and punches to guard, movement and co-ordination - all contributing towards achieving the perfect balance.

My journey to Vo2max is an amazing one and it all started with a simple sound - that ‘fwip fwap’ sound a jump rope makes as it quickly slaps the floor. That was all it took for me to fall in love with boxing.

I began a Martial Arts practice at age 18 and continued it all through college. I was a Philosophy Major with a concentration on Eastern Philosophy and was completely hooked on Zen Buddhism and how it related to the Samurai.

After a leg injury I turned to Tai Chi and Yoga, but something was missing. I missed that feeling and the excitement of practicing a form of kinetic aggression. I missed that fun sense of danger. I missed the fantasy, romance and the artfulness of “warrior training”. Truth be told I missed throwing punches and being punched.

So, I thought I’d give boxing a try.

As a young and somewhat arrogant self-proclaimed ‘Martial Artist’ I considered boxing to be barbaric, unsophisticated, and possessing nowhere near the same spiritually enlightened quality that I had in my Martial Arts practice.

    I was wrong.

I walked into my first boxing gym, and before I even saw inside I heard it – ‘fwip fwap’ and it was love at first sound.

I am a USA Boxing Certified Boxing Trainer/Coach and I have been involved in boxing and Martial Arts for well over 2 decades. I have taught in gyms from Mission Hill to Hanscom Air Force Base to Shrewsbury, MA and I couldn’t be prouder to be a part of the Vo2 family.

I have an absolute passion for boxing and in addition to coaching and training I have written/published articles on the Sweet Science for over 10 years.

I have written for TalkingBoxing.com, FightBeat.com and Bleacher Report. I have been fortunate enough to have been quoted in ‘Strip LV Magazine’, ‘BQE Magazine’ and on Showtime Boxing’s website. For a while I was a repeat guest on Baltimore’s WNST Sports Talk Radio 1570am.

I was introduced to fitness at a very young age, whether it was participating in team sports or working out with my father in our basement gym. I have always had a passion for sports due to the fact of how far you can push yourself as well as the camaraderie it brings on and off the playing surface.

After doing my research on all gyms in the area I felt that Vo2max offers the type of training that allows you to reach your goals and push you above and beyond what any other gym could do. Whether you are looking to get that beach body back or fit into that old dress, Vo2max can get you there. Together we can reach the common goal of being physically fit and strive towards a healthy lifestyle with my athletic aptitude and fitness training experience.

Welcome to Vo2max Fitness! My wife and I have spent the last year making our dream a reality and I know that our concept will change your life! Here is a little about my history and the evolution of the Vo2max Fitness Revolution!

I have been asked many times why Vo2max Fitness? My answer is simple: I want to help people find wellness. I want to help our clients understand nutrition and fitness and how both play an equal and essential role in our lives. Anyone can make the change. Here is my story:

Growing up I was overweight at a time when being a “chubby kid” was not as acceptable as it is today. I never excelled at sports and I spent many days terrified of gym class: those ropes I couldn’t climb and the pull-up’s I could not do. I never completed a single pull-up my entire adolescent life! It is a regret I will always have, but one that motivates me to this very day. Today I can not only do multiple pull-up’s, but I can do a one-handed pull-up, a corn-cob pull-up and push-up’s balanced on four medicine balls! I can run faster, train harder and most importantly, confidently approach life. I have achieved balanced wellness in my life, training and nutrition.

My first real encounter with fitness began in high school. I attended the Belmont Hill School where I joined the crew team and rowed in the Head of the Charles my senior year. It was during my time at Belmont Hill that I discovered my love of fitness. While I was certainly not a stellar athlete, I enjoyed the training aspect of fitness. The skills, methods and determination I gained at Belmont Hill became the foundation for my quest to discover the benefits of fitness and nutrition.

My undergraduate years were spent at Boston University where I studied history and was also very active in my Fraternity, Sigma Chi, including assuming the role of President my junior year. During this time I pursued fitness from a new direction. I joined Gold’s Gym where I trained with a personal trainer for the very first time. I remember how massive my trainer seemed and I aspired to build a similar physique.

After college I studied education with a concentration in history at Lesley University. I received a degree and became certified to teach history in Massachusetts, which I did for a very short time. While I did not end up at the front of the classroom, the lessons I learned from teaching have guided me through life and significantly contributed to the development of Vo2max Fitness.

During my educational studies, I worked in the healthcare field at a physical therapy practice in Wellesley. I then joined my father’s medical practice and became the Chief Operating Officer in 2001. To gain a better understanding of business, I am in the MBA and MSF programs at Suffolk University.

I am also a Certified Fitness Trainer through the ISSA and have just begun an intensive nine-month Nutritional Therapy Program through the Nutritional Therapy Association (yes, the same program Tosca Reno just completed). I am a member of the National Association of Nutrition, the Nutritional Therapy Association, the Academy of Functional Medicine, the Society for Human Resource Management, the American College of Healthcare Executives and the Medical Group Management Association. I am a P90X Qualified trainer and an Insanity Certified Instructor.

I currently live in Framingham Massachusetts with my wife (and co-Vo2max Fitness President) Jessica, my four- year old daughter Leia, my three- year old son Luke, my two black labs Paige and Dala and our little Yorki-Bishon Cleo. I am also blessed with a seven-year old son Jason who is a star soccer, flag football and tennis player and has already surpassed my athletic prowess!

Vo2max Fitness is for everyone, young and old, fit and not-so-fit, student, and athlete, working mother, stay-at-home dad, retiree and everyone in-between. Join us and “train like a boxer”, learn how to do a pull-up and find your personal “wellness.” Don’t have any regrets…..I dare you!

It all started with karate. I got into it as a child and dove back into it with new passion as an adult. I earned my black belt and began teaching it, and quickly realized that teaching others was exactly what I was meant to do. I suffered a small setback a couple years ago when I landed wrong off of a spinning kick, tearing my ACL and meniscus in the process. It limited what I could do with karate. I had the reconstructive surgery and immediately started looking for something similar I could do with my hands that would be kinder to my knee. This brought me through the front doors at Vo2max Fitness. I already loved punching, and thought the boxing training would be good fit for me. I didn't realize it at the time, but this was a pivitol moment in my life. A year and a half later, I've competed in an amateur fight, completed my coach's certification, trained and cornered fighters for THEIR first amateur fights, and live and breathe boxing all day, every day. Nothing gets me more riled up than a good argument over which boxer is the best, or in trying to predict outcomes of upcoming matches. I love how mentally and physically exhausting is, and constantly push myself to come up with new and innovative workouts to drive my clients even further. I love my job and love sharing my passion for boxing with every single person who comes in thinking they might possibly MAYBE want to give it a try. Because it's fun. And it's hard. In a word, it's amazing.

Growing up in Brazil my passion for combat sports was lit by Bruce Lee, Jean Claude Van Damme, Mike Tyson, and Dragon Ball Z. As I got older my childhood fantasies turned into an obsession with fitness.

I earned my certificate/diploma from the National Personal Training institute in 2008, and have been training since. Specializing in martial arts conditioning, high intensity interval training, circuit training, and calisthenics.

For the past couple of years I've trained in Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Boxing. Using elements of each one to create unique and intense workouts.
